The Challenge: Manage iPhones and Androids Accessing the Email Server

The IT Department at SIHO Insurance Services supported a variety of mobile device users on a one-off basis. As more employees began using personally-owned smartphones, requests for support and threats to information security began to escalate:

“We saw a rise in employees bringing in their own devices,” explained Mike Clancy, VP Information Technology Services.

“Employees would go for the two-year phone upgrade with their carrier, walk in with an iPhone or Android, see a colleague with their type of phone accessing SIHO email, and collaborate on how to set up the new phone for company email. That’s great for convenience and productivity, but we in IT have a responsibility to secure that data.”
