Arnold ClarkArnold Clark Automobiles Limited is one of the largest car dealerships in Europe, with over 2 million customers in the UK. They recently decided to upgrade their technology infrastructure in order to improve business efficiency.

Working with technology solutions provider SCC, Arnold Clark began with an overhaul of their wi fi network. Having improved wireless internet meant that staff could be much more mobile – allowing them to hot desk and easily roam with their devices, whether they wanted to connect from a meeting room, or hot desk in another of their many UK offices.

To further advance their mobility in the workplace, SCC helped Arnold Clark deploy new mobile devices and desktops to staff across the UK.

This improved connectivity opened up a wide range of possibilities for Arnold Clark, who decided that their existing telephony system could be improved by replacing it with web-based Skype for Business. Originally, only a small amount of callers could be waiting in the queue at any one time, whereas incoming calls can be managed much more effectively through a web-based client.

Naturally, it made sense to also install video-ready Skype for Business meeting rooms, allowing staff to host live meetings with colleagues in other sites and even customers.

 

Chris Rydings, Chief Technology Officer at Arnold Clark said: “The company has started to see the benefits and return on investment almost straight away.

“With the technology we’ve introduced, we’re able to be more dynamic and mobile with customers.

 

“The goals we set ourselves at the start of the project were incredible aggressive. We weren’t sure we’d be able to achieve them, but we did and we accomplished far more than we originally set out to achieve.

 

“One of the biggest changes we’ve seen has been a cultural one. With the new Skype for Business and email systems, teams which before were segregated by location are now able to have quick chats and video calls. We’ve managed to develop a culture of togetherness and collaboration through use of this technology. It was a massive step forward into the 21st century for Arnold Clark.”

 

These changes have since been underpinned by increased storage capacity and disaster recovery solutions provided by SCC, who provide ongoing technical support from their award-winning customer support centres.
