Mobile device adoption in the workplace has yet to reach it's peak, with a recent study showing that although 80% of workers surveyed received one or more device from their employer, desktops are still the most popular corporate device among businesses.
IDC says that spending on IT infrastructure (server, disk storage, and Ethernet switches) for public and private cloud in the EMEA region grew by 37.4 % year-on-year (YoY) to $1.4 billion in revenues for the second quarter of 2016. The cloud-related share of total EMEA infrastructure revenue was 22.5%. In financial terms, user value growth was 34.2%. IDC expects this market to reach a value of $10.5 billion, or 36.5% of total market expenditure, by 2020.
Enterprises will shift from building IT to consuming IT over the next three years, according to McKinsey’s IT-as-a-Service (ITaaS) Cloud and Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure survey. It says organisations are planning to transition IT workloads to hybrid cloud, with off-premise seeing the greatest growth.
